Marc Nieto, founder of REMEx

The founder

Marc Nieto

Builder. Investor. Connector.

Marc started REMEx to give Connecticut's real estate and mortgage pros something Zoom can't: a live room to learn, meet each other and talk deals, one evening a month, free.

The late 1990s

It started with investments in Greenwich

Marc began investing in Greenwich, Connecticut in the late 1990s, buying multiple properties and renovating them himself, down to full guts, added square footage and finished basements.

He's been doing it ever since. Fix-and-flips, rentals and renovations followed, and at one point Marc owned five houses in Greenwich at the same time.

The builder

More than 30 years on the construction side

Marc came up in construction at his family's company, L & M Roofing, and has spent more than three decades on job sites, from single-family renovations to a 265,000-square-foot commercial renovation. He has worked on some of the most affluent properties and gated communities in Fairfield County, and that work has taken him inside a lot of homes across the area.

It's also why he reads a property differently. He knows what a scope of work should include, what a contractor's bid really means, and where a renovation adds value and where it just adds cost.

The agent

A client talked him into the license

While Marc was working on a large-scale commercial project, a client kept pushing him to get his real estate license. Marc did, and for several years he ran real estate alongside construction. In October 2024, with his part of that project finished, he went full-time in real estate and hasn't slowed down since.

Today Marc is a licensed Connecticut real estate agent who can sit on either side of the table: the construction side and the real estate side.

"I know the construction side, and I know the real estate side. Connecting people is something I want to keep doing for the rest of my life."

Why REMEx

Because Zoom is cold

Most of the industry's education and continuing ed has moved online. It's convenient, but it's cold and impersonal, and nobody builds a real working relationship in a grid of muted squares. Marc has always loved networking, so he built the room he wanted to be in.

REMEx isn't built to make money. Sponsors cover the costs, it stays free for professionals, and it stays independent of any one brokerage or lender. The goal is simple: educate the real estate and mortgage community, connect people, and have fun doing it.

What you'll leave with

Education, connections and a few new deals

Every night pairs a talk you can use with time to meet people. Marc is also adding a deals segment near the end of the night, where people share their wins, their losses and what they learned, and talk about properties that might fit someone else's client, including the ones that aren't being marketed well.

Off the clock

There isn't much off the clock

Marc works most days, around 15 hours a day, seven days a week, and he'd tell you that's because he genuinely loves it. When he does step away, he's working on his own house or enjoying his motorcycles. He's a social person at heart, so a room full of people talking shop is his idea of a good night out. Travel is on the list. Somewhere.
