The short version
REMEx, the Real Estate and Mortgage Exchange, is a free networking and education night for Connecticut real estate and mortgage professionals. It meets the first Thursday of every month, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Two Hounds Public House, 43 South Main Street in Newtown. Launch night is Thursday, October 1, 2026.
Why it exists
Every closing depends on a chain of people: the agents on both sides, the loan officer, the attorney, title, the inspector, the insurance agent, and often a contractor. When those people already know each other, deals go smoother and problems get solved with a phone call instead of a scramble.
I've worked in construction since 1991 and in real estate since 1999. The best referrals I've ever given or received came from people I'd met face to face. REMEx is a regular, easy place to make those connections.
Who comes
Real estate agents from every brokerage, loan officers, real estate attorneys, title and escrow, home inspectors, appraisers, insurance agents, contractors and investors. You don't need to belong to anything to attend.

It's education first. The talks teach, they don't pitch.

- Ian G. Gottlieb, GLG Law: what blows up a Connecticut closing, and how to save it.
- James Molina, NEXA Lending: the 203(k) renovation loan, and how it opens up homes other buyers pass on.
Door prizes work like this: checking in gets you one entry, RSVPing ahead adds one, and every industry colleague you refer who checks in adds another, with no cap. You must be present to win, and there's a Top Connector prize for whoever brings the most people.
Referral entries count for guests who work in real estate, mortgage or a related trade: agents and brokers, loan officers, attorneys, title and escrow, inspectors, appraisers, insurance agents, contractors, investors, property managers and business lenders. Anyone else picks “Other” when they RSVP, and REMEx approves those one by one. It keeps the room focused on people you can do business with.
